Evaluation: Combination Of Ancillary And Main Product

I have created a presentation comparing key aspects of my ancillary task and my main task, demonstrating how the two work together to from our final product as well as giving examples of real media products from our chosen artist Taylor Swift.

Evaluation: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

In February, we asked a member of our target audience to watch our most recent edit of our music video. Here is the feed back we received from eight-teen year old Imogen.

Like the branding of Taylor, one of the main aspects we wanted to focus on is the repeatability of our artist. We designed our first question around this and asked Imogen if how relatable she felt our character was. As our feedback was positive we knew we were on the right track in achieving what we set out to.

I also uploaded the same version of our video to facebook, where we recived more detailed feedback from a much wider audience. Here is a link to the feedback we received in December  From this, we would decide and plan what footage we needed to add or change to create a more successful final outcome. We re-filmed using media equipment such as a greenscreen which although didn't  have the desired outcome, I was able to gain a new skill which I would not have without the aid of audience feedback.

Evaluation: Media Technoligy

Production

During the production of our media product, I developed my skills in my use of media equipment.  I was able to bring in my knowledge from other subjects, for example I have been able to demonstrate my skills in the use of studio lighting in the production of both my music video and digi-pak in both filming and photoshoots. I have also shown my ability to film using both DLSR and HD compact cameras to a fairly professional standard n the production of our video which lead to a successful final outcome.

Evaluation: In what ways does your media produce use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I started creating a response to this question by creating a presentation comparing our finished magazine advert to the official magazine advert from Taylor Swift's campaign for the same album which I looked at during our planning stages. In my annotations, I've focused on aspects from Taylor's advert which we kept the same when creating our own media text and therefore conforming to the conventions, and aspects we changed, challenging them.

I then went on to look at how we used elements of Mise en scene to either develop or challenge the forms and conventions of a real media product.  I've taken screen shots from our video and compared them to videos from the same genre which I looked at during the planning stages of our project.

Evaluation: Media Technology

Post- Production

I developed my skills most during the post-
production  area of my advanced portfolio. I
leant new skills in professional Adobe softwares such as Photoshop CS5 and premier pro. In the creation of my digipak, I learnt about posterisation effects and how to create and use digi-pak templates which is something I had never done before.
I premier  I was able to develop a completely new skill- editing sound. In the opening narrative shots of our video the introduction had to be extended in order for us to show our storyline effectively  This was a field I had no experience in but relied on my knowledgeable of editing footage to cut, duplicate and fade over audio tracks.

Evaluation: Media Technoligy

I chose to use different forms of digital technologies in order to create a successful final outcome. One of the ways in which I aimed to achieve this is through my use of blogger, YouTube and Facebook for the planning and production of our music video. I created a YouTube channel to directly address our audience, just as a professional company would.
We used social networking as the main method of communicating with our target audience as we knew that we would be able to reach our audience simultaneously

After conducting reach, we also found that our target audience are known to use these social networking making it the most effective way of contacting with them. Our YouTube channel allowed our audience to track our progress and was also used as a form of documentation. By creating links between all of our sites online, it shows how I have effectively used modern digital technology. They also helped with the production of our final product as we were able to receive feedback when we needed it through YouTube and Facebook.

Blogger enabled me to upload different forms of media through embedding HTML codes for videos and presentations, I learnt how to change the sizes of the items embedded by altering the codes which is something I had never done before. I also found a new way to present images on blogger by turning them into GIF formats; I feel this added a more professional feel to the overall presentation of my blog.

Without the recent development in modern technology, many aspects of my project would have been impossible to complete.

Footage from Todays Filming - Bedroom Fight

This is footage I uploaded to our Youtube Channel as a preview for our 'fans' in the hope to keep a relationship with our target audience and possibly receive feedback. During filming, Jade and I realised that we had to make adjustments to our original plans due to the size of the space on location. Rather than having our protagonist stand in front of the male character, she had to shit down in order for her to fit in the shot with 'Ryan'. We found that this worked to our advantage as it meant that Jade was able to interact with our antagonist physically which meant that the audience were able to understand what was happening more easily.
