Letter to Taylor Swift

Tzvetan Todorovs Theory of Narrative

Todorov simplified the idea of narrative theory whilst also allowing a more complex interpretation of film texts with his theory of Equilibrium and Disequilibrium. Todorov suggested that conventional narratives are structured in five stages:

1) A state of equilibrium at the outset. Meaning that as we are being introduced to the narrative and the characters at the being of the storyline. At this time the audience will feel neutral towards the characters. We are going to against this aspect of the theory as our video opens with a narrative shot of an argument with our main character and the antagonist.

2) A disruption of equilibrium by some action, something in the storyline occurs to create disorder. Our story will comply with this why having
our main characters break up.

3) A recognition that there has been a disruption, the character realise that something needs to be done to make everything normal.

4) An attempt to repair the disruption would be the main characters (Taylor and our antagonist), talk.

5) A reinstatement of repair the equilibrium, everything returns back to normality. Our protagonist and antagonist get make together.

Health and Safety.
